My career as a Pilates instructor started rather unexpectedly when I accepted a front desk position at a Pilates studio. I started taking classes during downtime at work and fell madly in love! I knew I wanted Pilates in my life for the long haul and I started my teacher training program as soon as possible. I have been actively teaching clients since 2014 and I officially became a Certified Pilates Instructor in 2016.
Although I am classically trained, I love incorporating modern takes on classical Pilates exercises and often include dumbbells, resistance bands, and other props in my classes. I enjoy teaching Pilates as much as I enjoy practicing Pilates and I try to let that shine through in every lesson and class that I teach!
I have always been a mover, enjoying things like Yoga, Aerial Arts, Dance and Pilates. I started doing more Pilates after a neck injury and realized that after practicing on a regular basis, I was pain free and my body and spine had changed dramatically. I knew that I wanted to teach this practice to help others feel the amazing difference that Pilates can bring into anyone's life! I have been teaching since 2016 and officially became certified in 2017. I am classically trained and love incorporating breath work and fundamental exercises into my classes to encourage deep mind body connection throughout class.
Yoga opened the door to spiritual awakening and healing for me during a difficult and dark period in my life. It took me on a journey to India, where I was based for ten years immersed in Yoga, nature, dance, and spirituality. Since then, I have traveled the world performing and teaching; and I continue learning and helping others discover the many benefits of Yoga and mindfulness on their paths of self-discovery, healing, transformation, expression, and overall well-being.
I have done over 400 hours of Yoga teacher training, am certified in Sivananda Yoga, Yoga therapy, Reiki, Access Consciousness (energy healing), Fusion Bellydance training in Dancecraft 1+2, 8 Elements Initiation, and have experience in Vipassana (Buddhist meditation), Holistic Temple dance, and traditional Indian dance. I also have an associate's degree in science and working on becoming an RN.
Conscious movement has become my way of life. I aim to bridge eastern mysticism with western science, and I love being creative and incorporating these different influences while staying true to the roots of Yoga in my classes.
My first yoga class was in 2011, and I have been hooked ever since. I took my first yoga training class on May 29, 2012, and received my 200-hour Register Yoga Teacher Certification in August 2014.
When I teach, I encourage students to connect with their breath. I see myself as your guide to help you with alignment, breath, mind, balance, movement, and motivation. I will talk you through poses and pride myself on helping you hold your poses correctly.
I teach Hatha yoga with Vinyasa flow. Hatha yoga is practiced at a slower pace with a focus on breath and controlled movements. Vinyasa focuses on connecting the breath to the movement, which is a faster pace. I teach the best of both of them, with the first half of the practice being a flow and the remainder of the practice focused on breath, your mind, balance, and strength.Through my 200-hour teaching training certification, I took classes relating to Prenatal and Postpartum, Yoga for Seniors, Kids Yoga, Yoga Lean, Yoga with Props, and Yoga for Mental Health.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Yoga with Lynn. Bring wellness to your being. Planting yoga seeds and roots into your life.
Yoga brings breath, ease, stability, and balance to my life. It provides a path into myself and connections with others. Yoga is much more than physical movement; it seeds strength, confidence, and creativity to the physical, mental, and energetic bodies. Come to my classes curious to explore movement, open to experience pranayama (breath), mantra (meditation), and mudra (symbolic gesture) with a twist of fun. My classes have varied
ingredients: flowing vinyasa, yin, alignment, and elemental-focused practices. I am both a teacher and a student.
The first time I experienced yoga was when I tagged along
with a fellow aerobics instructor for a yoga training. I attained my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification in 2006 from YogaFit. In March 2022, I completed my 500-hour Advanced Elemental Yoga Teacher Training with E-RYTs Amy Pearce-Hayden and Aubree Saia. This advanced training has expanded my yoga knowledge and added many useful tools. It has
shown me how to dive deeper into myself at a new level. By day I am an accountant at a local government. I am full-time committed to planting yoga seeds and roots into all areas of my life.
I became hooked on Yoga in 2003 after I took my first class. I continued to practice and take classes until the time was finally right to dive deeper into Yoga through teacher training. I hope to inspire my students as my teachers have inspired and encouraged me.
My classes are a slower-paced flow with time to focus on alignment and attention to the breath in the pose. There is time for self-reflection. I hope my students leave the class feeling invigorated but calm and restored.
I completed a 200-hour teacher certification in 2017 and have continued training with Alex Pfeiffer and 21st Century Yoga on the Mat through The Studio in Madison.
My interest in fitness and nutrition began when my husband and I opened Downtown Fitness in 2008. I was intimidated by the scary-looking equipment and had no idea what I was doing. I couldn’t help but be inspired by the people who were so dedicated to their health and well-being. They were taking care of themselves and having fun doing it! As a gym owner, I admit I felt an obligation to lead by example, so I started working with a personal trainer who showed me the ropes (literally!) and helped me overcome my fear and self-consciousness. As I gained knowledge and experience, my outlook changed, and as my health and fitness level improved, my self-esteem went sky high as I accomplished things I never in a million years thought I would or could: I ran several half-marathons around the nation, participated in crazy mud runs, and truly became comfortable in a gym setting. Those who knew me before hardly recognized me!
There was no way I could keep this amazing feeling to myself, and I was compelled to earn my certifications and share my newfound love of fitness with others. As a certified trainer, it is my privilege to help others find their way on the path to better health, especially those who might feel awkward and lost in the gym. I’ve been there; I understand the hesitancy. It is my absolute pleasure to guide others on their journey to better health!
I wish I had found Yoga much earlier in my life and practiced it more often. Practicing Yoga and meditation are the pieces of my personal puzzle that have been missing and are now in place. The summer of 2022 I earned my 200 Level Yoga Certification through Breathe for Change, and I am currently taking the 300 level Yoga certification class, which also includes Chair Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Through Breathe for Change I am also a certified SEL Facilitator (social and emotional learning). The mental peace and stability I find through practicing and teaching Yoga is a beautiful change for my mind, body, and spirit. The Hatha yoga I teach is slower-paced with controlled movements, and I also teach Vinyasa flow, connecting movement to the breath. I am new to teaching Yoga, but I love helping people feel movement, balance, breath control, and peaceful meditation in their body and mind through the practice of Yoga.
I have been a physical education teacher since 1993 and have my National Board Certification in Teaching. I would love to help you find joy and peace in your health and fitness journey through exercise and Yoga!
